As we covered in the HS Recruiting update, Charles White was a player with an imminent commit date. Luckily, on Saturday 4/27, he picked up the green and white hat.
Charles (DJ) White is the #10 ranked player in Michigan and the #67 ranked LB in the country. He is now the first defensive player to commit to the 2025 class, and a handful of other players are expected to make their decisions in the next month or two.
What Does This Mean for the 2025 Season:
With Cal Haladay and Jordan Turner expected to depart after the season, we needed to add more to the LB room long-term. Jordan Hall, Wayne Matthews, Aaron Alexander, Darius Snow, and Brady Preztlaff will return, so it's far from bare. DJ will have an opportunity to play early, but have enough vets in the room that he won't be drinking from the fire hose. At 6-3, he provides good height and a frame to bulk up for the college level. Read more about the LB room here.
In The Meantime:
As the first defensive commit, he will take on the role of heavily recruiting additional in-state players. We listed a few in-state targets in an earlier blog. I expect White will be in the ear of many of them. Here are a few that stand out:
Orchard Lake St. Mary's is a pipeline, with a few prospects on MSU's radar. This includes DJ's teammates Jayden Savoury (TE), Bryson Williams (6-2 /220 ATH), and Antonio Johnson (6-4 / 285 OL).
He's also close with fellow in-state LB Di'Mari Malone (LB), who is high on MSU. Should Malone commit to MSU, the two would be foundation LB pieces.
Other notable links include Elijah Dotson (RB/S at U of D) and Antwon Thomas (WR from Belleville listed at 5-11 / 165).
