Collier adds to the fast start in skill position commitments.

Braylon Collier committed to MSU on Friday 6/7, locking in one of the top players in Ohio (#33). His commitment adds to a strong start at offensive skill positions. Joining the current pledges at QB, RB, and TE. A second TE could be committing soon as well.

Next year, Collie will join a WR room with a blend of vets and former heralded players - Glover, Marsh, and Gates. There are also a few younger players eager to work up the depth chart to show what they can do - Johnson, Smith, Clay and Brown.

I can still see the staff trying to improve this room short-term through the portal.

So how does Collier fit into the WR room?

  • Below is a snapshot of the returning WRs for next year and incoming freshmen (classes are what they will be next season). Four out of seven are 6-2 or taller, and five out of seven weigh 185 or heavier.

  • At 6-1 / 170, Collier is on the slighter side but offers speed and agility, which this staff has prioritized.

  • Collier could present a niche skill set as a speedy slot guy. Which is a welcome addition with a majority of the players being more possession receivers.

What to make of this room going into next year?

  • I hate to play this card, but it's really TBD. Foster and Brown are departing. And we really don't know how Glover, Marsh, Gates, Johnson and Smith will handle WR2-6 roles this year.

  • I expect this group to shuffle a lot in the rotation. Eventually, we will see how they mesh with Chiles.

  • The good news could be that the 7 above players return; maybe it's only 5 if two leave in the portal. I expect Glover and Marsh to go into next year as a pretty good WR1-2 duo. But the bad news could be that besides Glover (and maybe Marsh), none of the other returning players will be above 50 career receptions or 500 career yards. This means there still isn't a lot of experience and returning production going into 2026.

  • With that, I expect the staff to look at WR in the portal again next year.
